Blackie & Son is a family owned and operated business since 1969 founded by Richard Heavilin Sr. He began providing demolition, ditch and digging work, septic tanks, landfill, and excavation. By the mid 1980's, Richard ventured into adding asphalt paving to his business expertise.  Owners Richard Sr. and his sons Rich Jr. and Dustin have over 90 combined years of valuable experience and knowledge. They have been awarded many times since 2005 The Best of the Best Readers' Choice award for Best Paving Contractor in the area!

     Where does the name of the company come from? Richard Sr. chose the name after his father Eugene, whose nickname was "Blackie" due to his jet black hair and occupation of working in the coal mines.
